I see an elderly person who has dropped something that probably isn't important bending over to pick up said unimportant item. This elderly person happened to be in an inconvenient spot when Palsy decided to kick in, and seeing as the elderly person has arthritis of the knees, has to bend at the waist to pick up said dropped item. The other person is in a bit of a hurry, and decided it was more important to squeeze past the elderly person instead of either helping out or waiting for the elderly person to complete the task at hand.
To me, this speaks to the current state of society. Our elders are disrespected and cast off in our hurry to make that extra dollar at work. It speaks to the inability of people to spare a second to help someone who is having difficulties completing a seemingly simple task. You never know what a person is going through or has gone through, and should consider giving a couple seconds of your time in an effort to make someone else's day a little easier.
Tl;dr: old person with Palsy and an impatient prick. Or Broke Back Mountain on Ice . One of the two.

Could also be argued that the old person stopped in the worst possible spot while people are trying to walk because that penny on the ground is important and if he doesn't have any place to be, why should anyone else? Sorry. Slightly cynical because I live in Florida where old people seemingly intentionally walk in front of you or into a doorway to stop for no reason in supermarkets.

No reason to apologize, old people do it in my state. But they always say "oh, I'm sorry honey. I didn't mean to hold you up. You know how I forget my surroundings in my old age." And you can't reply that yeah, how could you ever forget. You have to just smile and tell her it's no problem and that you hope she has a wonderful day.
Old people are smart man. I'm telling ya. They may not be able to physically corner you, but they fuck with your mind. Break you down. And you don't realize it until you wake up sobbing three nights later.
